The Road Back

Hey everyone, as some of you already know, I recently had ACL surgery (March 31st). Yep — the glamorous world of hospitals and physical therapy have been my reality these past few months. I posted a quick video update, but I wanted to share a little more about what’s been going on and what recovery looks like from my perspective.

The Surgery

Tearing an ACL is one of those things you hear about athletes going through all the time, but when it happens to you… well, it’s a whole new level of “fun.” The surgery itself went well — my surgeon was great, swapped in a graft to replace the torn ligament, and just like that, the countdown to recovery began.

Recovery: The Not-So-Highlight Reel

The first few days after surgery? Honestly, not great. Swelling, stiffness, and trying to figure out how to move around without looking like a baby giraffe learning to walk. But little by little, things start to improve. You celebrate the weirdest victories: getting your knee to bend a little further, ditching the crutches for a few steps, or just managing a decent night’s sleep.

Patience, Progress, and Perspective

Here’s the reality: ACL recovery is a marathon, not a sprint. It takes months of rehab, strengthening, and retraining your body. Some days it feels like you’re flying, and others it feels like your knee didn’t get the memo. But that’s the process.

What I’ve learned so far:

  • Patience is key. (And let’s be honest, patience isn’t always my strong suit.)

  • Small wins matter. Walking across the room without a limp feels like winning a championship right now.

  • Support helps. I couldn’t do this without the people around me like my wife cheering me on (and occasionally reminding me to be patient).

Looking Ahead

I know it’s going to take time — probably 8–12 months before I feel fully “me” again — but I’m determined to put in the work and come back stronger. If nothing else, this whole experience has given me a new appreciation for resilience, perspective, and the ability to laugh at myself along the way.

So here’s to progress, one careful step at a time.
